Whenever you are picking anything from nature - 2 rules apply:

1. absolutely make sure you KNOW what you are picking!

2. NEVER ever overpick - leave lots for nature - many birds and small mammals rely on berries for their Winter food

And of course if you are on a local famers or neigbours land make sure you have their permission.

Hawthorn (Crataegus) growing in the wild - with its particular leaf shape.

In my book Treat Yourself Natural - I explain what hawthorn is good for.

It is easy to make a tea with the berries - either fresh or dry, just put 4 or 5 in a teapot or mug, let seep for 10 mins and then drink.

Hawthorn can affect the circulatory system - so if you have any heart or blood issues then you must seek professional advice before using hawthorns.
